RESEARCH RESOURCES

DISCLAIMER

I work in the field of phonetics/phonology. Therefore, many of the resources I provide here are related to those.

LEARN PRAAT
  • Praat is a free tool for phonetic analysis.

ANALYZE YOUR DATA

LEARN R
  • R is a wonderful free tool that is available to you to manage, clean, analyze, and plot your data.

  • I personally use RStudio. I find it more user-friendly and visually pleasing.

PLOTTING DATA
  • ggplot is a great package in R to help you with data visualization. Here's a cheat sheet for you to learn how to use it. And here's an online book for further instructions.

STATISTICAL DATA
  • Dr Marissa Barlaz's personal website is super useful and includes a lot of information about different aspects of data analysis, processing, etc. She was my statistics professor in graduate school and a member of my dissertation committee. All I know in linguistic statistics I owe it to her!

PREPARING YOUR MANUSCRIPT

  • Sometimes, you will be asked to edit your manuscript in LaTeX. If you are not used to that platform, Overleaf is a fantastic online alternative.
